THE PROJECT
Students, visitor and planners are all at a loss when they try to understand the cultural demography and diversity of any city. The uExplore project is an attempt to map the intangible heritage that is the 'soul' of architectural heritage of any city. We have sourced information not only from archives and historical references but also from people themselves.
ABOUT US
uExplore is a collaborative project owned and funded by Victoria Capital Ventures Ltd. It is made possible through a collaboration with World Learning's SIT Graduate Institute students practicum programme as well as the larger community of people of the city including non-government organizations and media companies. A lot of the information is compiled from published material.
MISSION
uExplore’s mission is to provide an interactive and participatory learning tool for individuals and communities to preserve through awareness the living heritage of every individual.
LIVING HERITAGE
What do we mean when we say living heritage? We mean the stories your grandparents used to tell you. The rituals you partake in. The myths and legends of the city you grew up in. The auspicious timing of when a festival begins. Living heritage is what makes life rich to the people who live in Ahmedabad; it is what makes Ahmedabad such a unique place to live in and visit.
VISION
uExplore envisions a future where the involvement and participation of the community keeps heritage alive. Our objectives are two fold. We want to:
- Conserve cultural heritage resources for the education and enjoyment of current and future generations;
- Engage people – youth in particular – with intangible heritage learning for a bright, culturally rich future.
