The Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation (AMC) organized the first Heritage Walk in 1977 as a way to instill a sense of pride among citizens. Today, this 2.5 km (2.5 hours) walk has evolved into a movement. The walk starts at 8:00 AM from the Swaminarayan Temple in Kalupur and ends at Jumma Masjid at 10:30 AM. The walk aims to highlight conservation efforts of the walled city's architectural marvels and preserve the unique pol lifestyle. Tour fees for Indians and SAARC nations are 30 Rs. and 50 Rs. for all other foreigners. Runs all days except for Diwali.
A unique tour that shows off the brillance of the walled city's night life. The tour is 2 hours long and starts at the beautifully restored Mangaldas ni Haveli and ends in the bustling and vibrant Manek Chowk night market where you can endulge on local treats including icecream, chocolate pizza, and pani puri. The tour brings you to experience the sounds of the drum beats at 11PM, which historically was the time that the walled city's gates would close. This tradition lives on for 600 years.
